Currently, I work as a grower, tending 1,500 blueberries at a farm a few miles inland from Highway 1 on California's scenic Central Coast. It's good hard work and a welcome alternative to sitting at the computer day in and day out. An ideal balanced lifestyle, for me, is time in the field, working the body, and time at my desk reading and writing, working the brain.
I recently published a monthly literary magazine, The Rogue Voice, which folded soon after the economy crashed and ad revenues quickly declined for our unique print publication.
I have worked as a freelance writer and editor, avoiding whenever possible soul-crushing office spaces, working outdoors, and out of my home, pursuing my dream of independence and free, innovative thinking. The cost has been heavy but the rewards of working with talented authors, artists, growers, farmers and innovators have been priceless.
I have also worked as a landscaper with an emphasis on native, sustainable landscapes.
I post occasional essays at my blog: Rogue's View, to feed my writing and publishing hunger, and spend the rest of my time in the garden, working with the soil. §
